If I help a friend in a fight, can I get charged with a crime?

Yes, you could also be charged with Assault if you do more than just try to break up the fight. Grabbing or hitting the other person will lead to charges in most instances.

Do not ever attempt to stop a police officer from arresting someone even if there is a struggle. You could be charged with a felony for assaulting a police officer.
